WHY INTERNSHIP FOR YOUTH?

Helping youth by helping others

Youth at-risk often face multiple stressors in life, including difficulty transitioning successfully into adulthood.

By providing them with internship opportunities, they can improve their livelihood and on-the-job skills to succeed in life.

A career in early childhood can be especially rewarding, as it gives them the chance to make a positive difference to other children.

This internship programme is designed for youth recommended by the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF) who have expressed interest in a career in early childhood.

Box of Joy

Spreading the joy of the festive season

The annual Christmas gift drive allows us to deliver the joy of the festive season to vulnerable children in the community.

img
IMG

WHY BOX OF JOY?

Gifts could transform lives

During the festive season, your gifts can bring joy to children who may otherwise have nothing under their tree.

Giving and sharing, especially during the holiday, can also help children through their troubled times, and make them feel seen and cared for by the bigger community.

IMG
IMG
IMG

WHO WE IMPACT

Extending love to vulnerable children

The gifts you donate are distributed to disadvantaged children in the community, in an effort to celebrate the holiday together and make each child a happier one. In 2020, we reached out to 13 organisations to distribute donated gifts to infants and children up to age 13.

ECF Study Sponsorship

Helping youth realise their dreams of higher education

Together with the Ministry of Social and Family Development (MSF), ECF aims to enable youth to continue their studies at a tertiary level, through a sponsorship programme.

img
IMG

WHY ECF STUDY SPONSORSHIP?

Higher education helps youth land jobs

A stepping stone to employment, higher education opens doors that might have otherwise been inaccessible to youth from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Over the course of their studies, their network of mentors and educators can connect them to industries and leaders, creating greater opportunities in their lives.

These include gaining job security, social stability, higher wage, and better health.

IMG
IMG

WHO WE IMPACT

Raising youth to see the possibilities

ECF Study Sponsorship is designed for marginalised youth who have completed their secondary education or Workplace Literacy and Numeracy (WPLN) Assessment.

The programme allows them to continue their tertiary education at a polytechnic, Junior College/Millennia Institute, ITE, university or any MOE-approved private institution.

Graduating with a higher education will not only give them a huge sense of accomplishment, but also the confidence needed to go out into the world and make something of themselves.

Mindfulness

Building resilience in vulnerable youth

Mindfulness is incorporated into our programme to help vulnerable youth develop self-awareness, emotional intelligence and resilience to cope with stressful events in life.

img
IMG

WHY MINDFULNESS?

The joy of just being mindful

More youth are anxious, depressed and stressed than ever before. They need all the help and opportunities they can get to cope and flourish.

Mindfulness offers this break and helps them function more effectively and clearly.

The simple act of practising mindfulness–how to relax, focus and just breathe–could be one of the greatest gifts and lifelong skills they receive.

IMG
IMG
IMG

WHO WE IMPACT

Empowering youth with a lifelong skill

Mindfulness has the power to increase focus and, at the same time, reduce issues with anxiety among at-risk youth.

We conducted a successful pilot in the Singapore Girls Home in 2018, where we engaged trainers to deliver mindfulness-based programmes that help to reduce stress and improve behavioural regulation.

With its success, we expanded the initiative to other youth and children’s Homes and Shelters in 2019, including Pertapis Centre for Women & Girls, and Singapore Girls' Home.
